Electoral Commission launches Roadmap for 2026 General Elections
The Electoral
Commission has launched the Strategic Plan 2022/2023-2026/2027 and Roadmap for
the 2025/2026 General Elections. The event presided over by the Prime Minister
Robinah Nabbanja, was held on Wednesday 2nd August 2023, at Hotel Africana,
Kampala.
The Electoral
Commission Chairperson, Justice Byabakama Mugenyi Simon noted that the
Strategic Plan they launched is a result
of extensive research and stakeholder consultation especially how the last
general elections were held in 2021.
According to Justice
Byabakama, the Roadmap will enable stakeholders in the electoral process to
Improve in the planning for participation and implementation of electoral
activities, Improve co-ordination of electoral activities, timely
implementation of scheduled electoral activities among other activities. He
cautioned political parties that the release of the roadmap does not mean that
the country should engage in campaign activities.
The Prime
Minister, Robinah Nabbanja noted that the Office of the Prime Minister will
make sure that the required funds are released to the Electoral Commission to
execute the activities as outlined in the Roadmap for the next general
election.
