Famers in Kiruhura decry low milk prices
Farmers in Kiruhura district are in tears after the milk price went down something that is making their lives hard.
In other last months, a liter of milk was being sold at Shs. 800 to Shs.1200 but currently a liter is at Shs.300 to Shs.400. Famers from this cattle corridor district say their economy has been affected since they only depend on selling milk. They say they now face difficulties in getting school fees for their children since they nolonger have their milk selling business in an active way.
Emmanuel Kyeishe, the chairman for Kiruhura District Farmers Development Association has asked the government through ministry of Agriculture and animal husbandry to intervene in their issue of low milk prices.
