I don't want to destroy or kill my Party-Hon Mathias Mpuuga
Former Leader Of Opposition in Parliament, Hon Mathias Mpuuga has vowed not to leave National Unity Platform (NUP), saying he will stay in this party even when he is being insulted by the public and some party members. Hon Mpuuga who is also the Nyendo-Mukungwe Legislator made these remarks while speaking to the media at Parliament about different issues with in the Party.
This follows a letter from NUP leadership that was addressed to Parliament Speaker, Anita Among indicating how the party agreed to recall Mpuuga from the Parliamentary Commission on account of corruption noting that they nominated Mityana Municipality MP Hon Zaake Francis to be in this position of parliamentary commission. According to NUP Leaders, Mpuuga is accused of involving himslef in corruption scandals where he received Shs. 500M from Parliament as a service award, the issue Mpuuga util now says he does not know anything about the said money.
Mpuuga today told journalists that he has seen the letter by his Party, rescinding his earlier nomination as a member to the Parliamentary Commission, saying he won’t respond to the letter because he will never be corrupt or recruited into corruption as he is being accused, saying those accusing him of corruption are seeking for short term political capital.
Mpuuga said he has no misunderstandings with the party president, Robert Kyagulanyi Bobi Wine and urged journalists to go and ask Kyagulanyi if he has misunderstandings with him (Mpuuga). Mpuuga also said he will not to leave National Unity Platform (NUP), a party he founded and still serves as Deputy President in charge of Buganda Region. He said he is not in NUP Party to do anything to destroy or kill it but rather to do political matters of the party.
