Police are searching for the head teacher of  Ibanda High School, Ayebare Medard in connection with a fatal hit-and-run accident.

According to SP Kananura Michael, the Traffic Police Spokesperson, on February 10, 2025,Ayebare, who was driving M/V UBD 513P allegedly struck and killed Mugume Herbert,7, a pupil at Nyabuhikye C.O.U, while speeding along Ibanda-Mbarara Road at Nyabuhikye Trading Centre.

Following the incident, Ayebare abandoned his vehicle at Kanoni Police Station in Kazo district and fled the scene. The vehicle was later towed to Ibanda Police Station where it is parked now for further investigation.

Kananura has appealed to anyone with information regarding Ayebare's whereabouts to come forward and assist in bringing him to justice.
