Ibanda man remanded to prison over waragi theft
Ibanda chief magistrate court has been remanded a young man to Nyabuhikye Prison suspected of stealing waragi (local potent gin).
Crescent Tumusiime, 19, a resident of Kankambwe in Rwobuzizi, Bufunda Division in Ibanda Municipality, faces another charge of housebreaking before the court. Court heard that on August 19, the suspect broke into the house of a one Remegio Murokozi with intentions of stealing.
He allegedly stole 2 jerrycans of waragi from the house of Murokozi, a resident of Rwobuzizi. The suspect, who is currently serving a one-year jail term at Nyabuhikye Prison for theft, denied that charges before court presided over by chief magistrate Winfred Naigaga Kyobiika. He will return to court on November 8, 2023 when hearing of the case will start.
