Court in Ibanda district has charged a 53-year-old man with attempted murder case when he tried to kill his wife Grace Kamakondere. Levinary Kabatungye a resident of Ryensinga, Nyarukika in Rukiri sub-county was dragged to court by his wife Kamakondere who claimed he wanted to kill her last month.

While appearing before the Ibanda Grade One magistrate’s court, Kabatungye was read the charges of attempted murder for trying to kill his wife Kakondere with a machete on June 19 and she escaped with deep injuries on her arms.

Kabatungye who had escaped from the village, later resurfaced on 23rd, July and was arrested by Police. He faces life imprisonment if he is found guilty, as the maximum jail term for the offence.

However, Grade One magistrate Esther Murungi charged Kabatungye with charges of attempting murder, remanded him to Nyabuhikye Prison until August 16, when he will return to court for case hearing.
