Ntungamo Municipality MP, Yona Musinguzi has also joined other Members of Parliament in signing a motion needed to censure Parliamentary commissioners.
The exercise of collecting signatures to censure Parliamentary Commissioners is being spearheaded by the Lwemiyaga County Legislator, Hon Theodore Ssekikubo together with other 5 MPs and the aim is acquire 177 signatures to censure Commissioners whom they accuse of allocating themselves money between Shs400m-Shs500M service awards without seeking Parliamentary approval.
These Parliamentary Commissioners are Esther Afoyochan ( Zombo District Woman MP), Prossy Akampulira (Rubanda District Woman MP), Solomon Silwany (Bukooli Central MP) whoare said to have shared 400M each and Mathias Mpuuga (Nyendo-Mukungwe MP) who allegdly got 500M.
Today, Ntungamo Municipality MP Yona Musinguzi signed on the motion and told journalists that he wondered how MPs will have to carry out their oversight and castigate corrupt officials in their constituencies, if their own House at Parliament, is tainted with corruption. Musinguzi also denied claims that the Shs1.7Bn Service Award shared amongst the 4 Commissioners, was approved by Parliament, he said this can only be possible if records of the Hansard are forged by the people behind the service award.
Another MP who appended her signature to the censure motion is Hon. Betty Nambooze of Mukono Municipality who clarified that her actions are not intended to condemn the four Commissioners, but rather avail them with a platform to defend themselves.
