Kamwenge and Kyegegwa districts leading in malnutrition
A nutritionist at Fort Portal Regional Referral
Hospital, Dr. Aggrey Gweita has expressed concern over increased cases of
malnutrition reported at the facility.
He raised the concern while speaking during the
closing of the Tooro media engagement on nutrition organized by African Centre
for Media Excellence (ACME) at Fort Portal regional referral hospital. Dr.
Gweita said in a month, they receive at least 70 malnourished children.
According to him, this has left the general nutrition ward congested since it
can only accommodate 16 patients.
He also revealed that Kamwenge and Kyegegwa districts are leading in high cases of malnutrition, thus urging parents to aim at feeding children on a balanced diet.
