Police in Kajjansi-Kampala have arrested a 50-year-old man on allegations of defiling a 14-year-old girl. The suspect has been identified as Mwizerwa Ali, 50, a resident of Bweya Kajjansi in Kampala and is suspected to have committed this offence between May and September 2024.

The case came to light when the victim’s mother Nakisuyi Zukah, a 40-year-old businesswoman from Bweya, reported the incident to Kajjansi police on September 30, 2024. In her statement, Zukah accused Ali, who is also the victim's stepfather, of defiling her daughter.

Police spokesperson Rusoke Kituuma confirmed the arrest stating that the suspect was apprehended following a thorough investigation. On October 11, the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) reviewed the case file and subsequently sanctioned charges against Ali.

He then appeared before the chief magistrate’s court facing allegations of aggravated defilement and was remanded in custody. The investigation continues as the community seeks justice for the young victim.
