Police in Kazo district are investigating a shocking case in which a man attempted to kill his own son.

Kiiza Banabus, a resident of Akagando cell in Akatongole Parish, Migina Sub-county in Kazo district is accused of taking his 5-year-old son, Nuwasasira Ronald, to a separate location and dumping him in a trench with the intention of causing his death.

According to eyewitnesses, the child was found in the trench today morning in a critical condition. It is alleged that Kiiza's motive for the attempted murder was due to a strained relationship with his wife, the child's mother, as he had been facing difficulties in providing for the child's basic needs.

Kato Patrick, a police officer at Migina Police Post, confirmed the incident stating that the child was to the police post by a man who  explained how he had found him in the trench.

Police then launched a search for Kiiza, who was eventually apprehended in his village of Akagando. He is currently being detained at Migina Police Post waiting to be transferred to Kazo Central Police Station to help with investigations.
