Authorities in Mbarara district have launched the disbursement of funds worth 20 million shillings to 4 beneficiary groups under the special grant for persons with disabilities and special enterprise grant for older persons.

The special grant for PWD's targets persons with any form of disability including those with multiple disabilities like mental disorder who are represented by their caregivers while the special enterprise grant for older persons is meant to support those between 60-79 years to engage in productive activities.

Mbarara Resident District Commissioner, Emmy Katera Turyabagyenyi urged the beneficiaries to utilize the funds received as per work plans submitted and always seek guidance from the extension workers within their sub counties. The special grants launched aim at improving the livelihoods of persons with disabilities and older persons.
