Police in Arua District are investigating an incident involving a fight between Ayivu West Constituency Member of Parliament, John Lematia and a DSTV technician in Arua city, James Ariko. The incident allegedly happened at on Easter Sunday, March, 31st at Dream Land Hotel in Kuluva trading center.
According to reports, the incident allegedly happened after Hon Lematia arrived at Dreamland Hotel with a woman Faith Eyotaru, 25, they found James Ariko, who was also at this hotel. Ariko was heard telling the legislator about his (Ariko) relationship with Eyotaru which forced both men to have a physical fight.
Confirming this incident, West Nile Region Police spokesperson, Josephine Angucia noted that after the fight, Hon Lematia and Ariko went to Arua City Central Police Division to report the incident, however, they were told to go to Arua District police headquarters at Odumi where they filed cases of assault and threatening violence.
It is said that the woman Eyotaru confirmed to police officers that she had a love affair with Ariko but it ended and now in love with Hon Lematia. The legislator denied having a relationship with her and police are still investigating.
