Kazo Accident leaves one dead
A tragic accident occurred this morning along Kazo-Ibanda road in Kazo District, resulting into the death of one individual. The collision involved a Toyota Premio registration number UAP 149J, which had a head-on collision with a Fuso Fighter Truck registration number UBA 312W.
The deceased has been identified as Nuwagira Sayid Kamoomo, a
resident of Rwakahaya Village in Kanoni Sub County, Kazo District. He died at
the scene, while his driver (yet to be identified) sustained critical injuries.
The three occupants of the Fuso Fighter Truck remained unhurt.
Witnesses reported that the deceased was traveling from the Ibanda side, while the Fuso Fighter Truck was coming from Kampala when the two vehicles collided near Katanganya Trading Centre along the Kazo-Ibanda road.
In an interview with Kazo FM, Kazo District LCV Chairman Rev.
Samuel Mugisha Katugunda expressed his ongoing concerns regarding road safety.
He said he has been advocating for the installation of speed
humps on this road from Uganda Nationa Roads Authority (UNRA) to prevent
similar tragic incidents, although these requests have not been addressed. He
vowed to continue following up on this matter to ensure measures are put in
place to reduce the frequency of accidents.
By Press time, police from Kazo Police Station had arrived at
the scene to conduct investigations.
