Church leader accused of obtaining money by false pretence
Siribaleka Aaron also known as Bishop, the leader of the Pentecostal Church in Kampala and Chief
Director of the Youth Vulnerable Children and Orphans Alliance Africa, has been
remanded on charges of Obtaining Money by False Pretence.
Siribaleka appeared
before the Mbale Chief Magistrates Court, where prosecutors alleged that
between 2018 and 2019, he defrauded individuals in Bugisu region
by using his organization to obtain over UGX 390 million from pastors, parents,
and prospective business people.
The victims
paid the money through Child Development Centres (CDCs) with promises of
education grants, scholarships, job opportunities after training, and capital
for their businesses, the promises went unfulfilled.
Siribaleka has been
remanded to Mbale government prison until September 25, 2024, when he is
scheduled to return to court for a hearing of his case.
