Three people released in Kyarisiima's case
Police in Mbarara have
confirmed the release of three individuals including Justus Nkwasibwe,
the husband of Judith Kyarisiima who was a senior midwife at
Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital whose decomposing body was
discovered in River Rwizi.
A post-mortem report
established that Kyarisiima died by drowning. She had been reported
missing from her home in Katete Central Cell since September 2, 2024,
and her body was found on the shores of River Rwizi on September 10,
2024.
SP Samson Kasasira, the Police Spokesperson for Rwizi Region, stated
that the three suspects including Nkwasibwe, who had been in custody since
last month, were released due to a lack of evidence.
Kasasira emphasized
that investigations are ongoing to determine whether Kyarisiima's drowning
was accidental, suicidal, or the result of foul play.
