Rakai District Service Commission Chairperson remanded
Rakai District Service Commission Chairperson remanded
The
Chairperson of Rakai District Service Commission, David Mpuuga has
been remanded to Luzira prison by the Anti-Corruption Court in
Kampala on charges of soliciting and receiving a 20 million Shillings
bribe to secure a job for an individual.
Mpuuga appeared before Grade One
Magistrate Esther Asiimwe yesterday and court heard that
in April 2024 while
in Lumbugu Trading Center in Rakai, the suspect received
20 million Shillings from Moses Mujuzi proposing to secure a job
for his son Julius Ssemyalo who sought a job of
District Agricultural Officer.
According to the evidence presented to
court, Mpuuga received the bribe in two phases,
the first one he received Shs. 6 million and
the second phase he received Shs.14 million.
While in court, Mpuuga denied
the charges and Magistrate Esther Asiimwe remanded him to Luzira
Prison until October 14, 2024 when he will return to court for case
hearing.
