Red Eye Disease Confirmed in Bushenyi

Bushenyi District Health Officials have confirmed the outbreak of Conjunctivitis (Red Eyes) in the district.

According to Bushenyi District Health Officer Dr. Edward Mwesigye, several cases have been registered hence urged the public to be vigilant and emphasis on sanitation and hygiene that is, washing hands with clean water and soap to curb the spread of this disease.

This disease was confirmed in Uganda by the Ministry of Health in March in schools, prisons within the Kampala Metropolitan Area. Health Experts say Conjunctivitis is an infection caused by a virus and the signs include Redness in the eyes, Pain in the eyes, irritation in the eyes, watery eyes among other signs.
