S.4 Student dies as UNEB Exams continue

Secondary School in Kibale East, Kamwenge District
is shrouded in grief following the tragic death
of Katushabe Apophia, a Senior Four candidate. Katushabe had
completed four papers in the ongoing Uganda Certificate
of Education (UCE) examinations when she passed away
on October 19th.
Ndibarema Lawrence,
the school's deputy head teacher, confirmed her death stating
that while Katushabe had experienced some health complications during the
exams, her condition worsened on Friday prompting her immediate
transfer to a hospital in Kampala, where she ultimately succumbed.
Lawrence expressed the school's hopes
for Katushabe's success, lamenting the loss of a promising candidate.
"Out of 235 candidates sitting the exams, we are now left with only
234," he noted.
Apophia, who was just 22 years old, will be laid to rest today
October 21st, at her parents' home in Ntuntu Nkoma in
Katalyeba Town Council, Kamwenge district.
