Speaker accepts Hon Nsibambi as new FDC Chief whip
FDC writes to speaker Among on new appointed Parliament chief whip
Speaker Anita Among has accepted the appointment of Mawokota South MP, Yusuf Nsibambi as the new Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Party Chief Whip in Parliament, following the sacking of Kira Municipality MP, Ibrahim Ssemujju by the FDC Party’s Secretary General, Nandala Mafabi.
According to Speaker Among, the FDC Secretary General Nathan Nandala wrote to her in a letter dated 7th October 2023 communicating and confirming the decision of the FDC delegates conference where Yusuf Nsibambi was appointed as FDC Party Whip in Parliament. The appointed Hon Nsibambi told parliament today that his appointment is a very big challenge because of the misunderstandings in FDC and noted that it is now his duty to galvanize the Party, sense of decency in the debates in Parliament as FDC. He pledged to work with all members of parliament to ensure that they have common positions, meet or address issues that affect society.
Reacting on this, Busia Municipality MP Godfrey Macho (NRM) said these are some of the miracles done by the God of NRM, where all political parties that have had alliances with NRM have seen some of its MPs appointed to ministerial positions, and therefore, the only thing left to confirm the strength of the god of NRM is if the new FDC Whip is appointed to a ministerial position. He said the God of NRM started working when UPC was put in charge of the Ministry of Gender, the God of NRM worked when Democratic Party was put under the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs hence said that Hon Nsibambi who has said he is ready to work with NRM might also be given a ministerial position too.
