Five admitted over suspected Anthrax disease in Ibanda
Ibanda District authorities are investigating a suspected outbreak of Anthrax disease.
According to reports, five people are hospitalised after eating meat from a dead cow in the villages of Rugaaga 1 and Rugaaga 4 in Keihangara Sub County, Ibanda District.
Rugaaga 4 village Chairperson, Serushuba Godard says the five people recently ate meat of a dead cow that was sold to them at a cheaper price, they started vomiting, developed skin sores and were rushed to Kagongo Health Center IV Hospital for treatment.
Vincent Mugisha, the District surveillance Officer says they have taken samples from the victims for testing and are waiting for results to determine whether it is Anthrax disease or any other disease. He has appealed to the public to stop eating meat from dead animals as this might risk them to such diseases.
