UPDF Engineering Brigade to construct Sheema municipality headquarters
Sheema Municiplaity headquarters to be constructed
Leaders in Sheema District have launched the construction of Kabwohe Health Centre IV and the Sheema municipality headquarters. Uganda People's Defense Forces (UPDF) Engineering Brigade took a contract for the construction of these buildings and the construction is expected to be completed in September this year.
UPDF Engineering Brigade Chief, Col. Eng Godfrey Tukamwakiira while launching the construction project yesterday February 14th, at the health centre premises in kabwohe town, said the construction of municipality headquarters will cost Shs.4.8 billion and constructing health centre will cost Shs.1.3 billion.
Col. Eng. Godfrey Tukamwakira urged residents and leaders to be vigilant, report to the relevant authorities any UPDF engineer in case one is involved in stealing the construction materials noting that fighting against corruption in building sites can lead to construction of better and planned buildings.
Dr. Horace Kizito, the Kabwohe Health Centre IV In-charge, said the facility receives over 260 expectant mothers every month from districts of Mbarara, Bushenyi and Buhweju and that the current maternity ward cannot accommodate more than 50 expectant mothers. He applauded leaders together with the government for having thought of constructing a maternity ward in away of providing fully medical services at this facility.
