Trader in Mbarara raise complaints about EFRIS Tax
Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) Officials have resolved to carry more sensitization on Electronic Fiscal Receipting and Invoicing Solution (EFRIS) among the Business Community.
This comes days after the Mbarara City Traders at Western Regional Business Symposium and Exhibition held at Ntare Gardens Mbarara City under the Theme; Exploring Business and Investment Opportunities through Continuous community engagements raised various concerns regarding Business operations which include; tax policy and administration, particularly the enforcement of the electronic Fiscal Receipting and Invoicing Solution (EFRIS), which traders allege is unfair.
Traders also in Kampala, Mubende, Mityana, Jinja among other areas were seen protesting about this EFRIS tax systems, they closed their shops and requested to have a meeting with President Yoweri Museveni which was held on Friday April 19th, 2024. While in a meeting, president Museveni asked traders to reopen their shops as they wait for his (President) meeting with URA Officials and Ministry of Finance officials to discuss more on this tax, meeting will be held on April, 24th.
In Mbarara, Denis Kugonza Kateeba, the Commissioner Tax Investigations - Uganda Revenue Authority who represented John Musinguzi, the URA Commissioner General at Western Regional Business Symposium and Exhibition held at Ntare Gardens Mbarara City said as URA they are going to carry more sensitizations on Electronic Fiscal Receipting and Invoicing Solution (EFRIS) as many traders misquote it.
In his remarks as chief guest the minister of local government Raphael Magezi appreciated the traders for not involving themselves in the strike of trade calling them to remain calm.
