Rubirizi Police Search for Thieves Who Stole Power Lines
Police in Rubirizi District are searching for unknown
assailants who vandalized and stole power lines.
It is reported that during the night of January 16th-17th,
2025 in Katanda 1 Village, Katanda Sub County, unknown individuals vandalized
and made off with 120 meters of electric wire from a three-phase power line.
Matial Tumusiime, the Spokesperson for the Greater Bushenyi
Police confirmed the incident stating that a team of electricians from the
Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) Katerera Branch
visited the scene to assess the damage.
Christopher Ntegyereize, a 49-year-old resident of Kakindo A
cell in Katanda Sub County, reported the case to the police. He mentioned that
they are currently working to identify the suspects with the help of the
community.
