Police in Kigezi Region say 10 deaths were registered during the just concluded festive season.

According to ASP Elly Maate the Kigezi Regional Police spokesman, between December 21 and December, 31, 2023, five murder cases were recorded, while five other people perished in the four fatal accidents totaling to 10 deaths.

ASP Maate says minus these deaths, the Christmas and end-of-year festivities in the region went on well and attributes this to public awareness programs conducted by Police prior to the festivities, which increased security consciousness and vigilance of people in their communities.

Maate expressed the continued commitment of Police and other security agencies to guarantee citizens of safety, and called upon the general public to cooperate with security personnel in the fight against crimes.
