Police in Bushenyi district are investigating circumstances under which a 23 year old man assaulted a 96 year old woman to death.

The suspect Richard Byaruhanga, a resident of Kayojo cell, Ruharo ward in Bushenyi Ishaka Municipality is suspected to have assaulted to death Anyesi Tirerebwa, 96, a resident of  the same area. The Kayojo village LC1 Chairman, Innocent Tumwebaze says the suspect visited Tirerebwa's home claiming to be having headache and wanted to be prayed for.

The suspect later forced himself into the house of the deceased, attacked the old woman demanding her to pray for him, he hit her head on the floor and killed her instantly. After the crime, the suspect managed to run away and went into hiding.

Greater Bushenyi Regional Police Spokesperson, Martial Tumusiime says the body of the deceased was taken to Kampala International University Hospital -Ishaka for postmortem as security personnel hunt for the suspect.
