24 year old Kanungu man allegedly defiles 2 pupils

Kanungu Police arrests man over defilement case

Police in Kanungu district are holding a 24-year-old man, Alex Byamukama on allegations of defiling two girls, aged 10 and 11.

Byamukama, a resident of Bihomborwa village, Kihihi town council in Kanungu district, is alleged to have defiled the two girls who are pupils of Bihomborwa Primary School.

According to Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson Elly Maate, on October 15, 2023, the two victims along with four other girls, left home to collect firewood in the bush but on their return, they were confronted by the suspect, who accused them of damaging of destroying the garden of one of the residents while trying to collect firewood.

Maate further revealed that the suspect singled out the two victims, instructed them to accompany him as a form of punishment to collect grass. while in the bush, he allegedly tied up the victims and defiled them.

The victims later informed their parents about the incident who also reported to police. The suspect is currently detained at Kanungu Central Police Station as investigations continue.
