Police in Kanungu District are currently investigating circumstances surrounding the alleged murder of three people.

Among the deceased is Arinaitwe Simple (45), a resident of Ibumbwe village, Katete sub-county in Kanungu. Reports say he was last seen at Kojo’s bar on Tuesday April 23rd, accompanied by Godfrey Kamugisha, a teacher, Innocent Tayebwa and Dickson Tayebwa.

Simple’s body was discovered on Wednesday April 24th along the Mutojo-Ibumbwe road. Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson, Elly Maate told reporters that Simple used to move with his money since he was involvement in cattle trading and money lending, hence he says, he might have been killed by those who targeted his money.

Maate says an angry mob caught those who were last seen with him,  Godfrey Kamugisha who was allegedly murdered by the mob, police later discovered another resident Innocent Tayebwa in critical condition and he later died on the way being taken to Kambuga hospital. Maate confirmed the arrest of one suspect to aid ongoing investigations.
