Police in Mbarara District are investigating a case where a 65-year-old man murdered his biological son over land issues.

Tumwiine Perez, 65, a resident of Bitereko Village in Kariro Parish, Rubindi in Mbarara District is said to have murdered his son, Tweteise Nickson 35, and the incident happened in the night of May, 19^th.

According to residents of Bitereko Village led by the Chairperson LC1 Mwombekyi Dezi, the deceased has been a threat to the village as he was involved in cases of stealing people’s property, beating people, and he had threatened to kill his father if he does not give him part of his land. It is alleged that after murdering his son, Tumwine took himslelf to Rubindi Police Station were he is now detained over charges of murder.

ASP Betungura Amos, the OC Rubindi Police station, has confirmed the incident noting that Police visited the scene, took the body of the deceased to Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital for post-mortem as investigations continue.
