The Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry, and Fisheries has distributed 900,000 doses of Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) to 23 districts that have been affected greatly with the disease in the country. The launch to distribute the FMD Vaccines was witnessed by Minister of Agriculture Hon. Frank Tumwebaze and the minister for animal industry Maj. Bright Rwamirama at the National Animal Genetic Resources Centre and Data Bank (NaGRC) in Entebbe on Monday, May 6th, 2024.

At the launch, Districts' leaders including members of parliament, Chief Administrative Officers, Districts Veterinary Officers amomg other leaders were present. Minister Tumwebaze noted that the ministry got at least 35 billion of the required 93 billion to procure FDM Vaccines. They procured 9.8M doses and commences with distributing 900,000 doses to different districts that were distributed.

23 districts have been prioritized to share 900,000 doses of FMD Vaccines and they include Kazo District that got 50,000 doses, Kiruhura got 80,000, Isingiro got 74,000, 28,000 to Rakai, 60,000 to Ntungamo, 45,000 to Sembabule among other districts.
