Burundi has closed the border with Rwanda after accusing Rwanda of supporting rebels carrying out attacks in Burundi.

Burundi says the RED-Tabara rebel group carried an attack on December 22, 2023 near the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), killing 20 people, including women and children.

Since that attack, Burundi President, Evariste Ndayishimiye has been accusing Rwanda of supporting these rebels, the allegation that Rwandan government is denying.

On this issue of Burundi Closing the Border with Rwanda, the Rwandan government said it regrets the closure of the border by Burundi.
