Muslims divided into factions in Kiruhura
Political Leaders in Kiruhura district are stuck over the divisionism among Muslims in Kiruhura District Muslim Supreme Council whose head quarters is in Kiruhura District.
One group at Akagate Masjid Noor in Karengo cell, Nyakahita Parish Kakashashara Sub County says they decided to follow the Kibuli based Muslim faction while the other group of Kiruhura district Kadh remained in the side of Uganda Muslim Supreme Council. Muslims of Akagate Masjid Noor have been alleging the mistreatment from the leadership of District Kadh, Sheikh Male Ismail Teeffe whom they say he demanded the land of Akagate Mosque accusing them of joining Kibuli Muslim group. Akagate Masjid Noor group says they won't allow the other group of Kiruhura district Kadh to take their land.
While meeting the Kiruhura District LCV Chairman Dan Mukago Rutetebya on February, 23, 2024, the group of Muslims of Akagate Masjid Noor said they want their head quarters to be at Akagate Masjin Noor alleging that the other group belonging to Kiruhura District Kadh of Uganda Muslim Supreme Council didn't mind about their developments including their Muslim schools, hospitals and other Muslim developments.
Imam for Akagate Masjid Noor, Habibu Kakoza explained that there are many reasons that forced them to join Kibuli based Muslim faction including having opportunities to protect their property. Kiruhura District Daawa, Abdulkadh Turyamushanga says disagreement on different issues commenced when the district Kadh failed to unite Muslims.
Responding to these complainants, Dan Mukago informed them that every person has the right to pray from wherever he wants, worship whatever he wants. He urged them to unite together so as to develop themselves noting that he will have to investigate more about the Akagate mosques’ land to know the owner.
During the interview of KC News on this issue with the Kiruhura Muslim district Kadh, Sheikh Male Ismail Teffe he said the group joining Kibuli Muslim faction wasn't a problem but the only issue was when the group was asked to handle over property to the Uganda Muslim Supreme council before joining other group.
