Bushenyi district Engineers in trouble over government vehicle
Scenes of drama unfolded yesterday at Bushenyi District council hall when councilors accused the District Engineer Barnabas Mbonimpa and water engineer Victor Kahangye of owning the government vehicle without authorisation.
The vehicle registration number LG0221-06 Toyota double cabin was allegedly taken from the District yard. Edward Mpabwa, male councilor Kyamuhunga town council said since the time of the works sectoral meetings, the District Engineer has never disclosed the whereabouts of the vehicle yet the district had placed advertisements to dispose it off alongside other equipment.
The Bushenyi District Chief Administrative Officer John Nyakahuma confirmed that the vehicle was taken from the yard without his consent. Asked about this matter, the Bushenyi District Engineer Barnabas Mbonimpa said the water engineer Victor Kahangye came to him saying he had difficulty in transportation, he gave him the vehicle without consulting anyone.
The council later resolved that the matter be taken up by police and arrest the parties involved over misuse of government property.
