Drug theft, 3 sentenced in Kyenjojo
Kyenjojo people sentenced over drug theft
Court in kyenjojo has sentenced three people for being involved in drug theft.
Among the sentenced are kule
Jackson 53, a resident of mubuku Maliba Sub-County in Kasese, Kigoma Eric
37, a resident of Kyamukuba Town
Council in Bunyangabo
district who was also purporting to be a medical doctor training some students
at his residence in medicine and Kobugabe Oliver 30 resident of ihamba-Nyantungo in Kyenjojo and
a wife to Kule
Jackson.
The arrest came up during the ongoing
joint operation with Kyenjojo
security team led by the office of the RDC, DPC and National Drug Authority
team from Kampala to crack down on theft of Government drugs from Health
facilities and those operating illegal drug shops.
Appearing before the chief magistrate of Kyenjojo Aciba
Gloria Nimungu each
of the convicts was sentenced to 3 years imprisonment following cases read to
them including carrying the business of a pharmacist without a license,
Unlawful possession of classified drugs, unlawful possession of government
stores, unregistered person posing off as a registered of the allied health
professionals council among other cases.
All these pleaded guilty however Eric Kigoma
denied committing these crimes and was remanded to Kyenjojo
Prison until January, 9, 2024 when he will return to court for case
hearing.
