Electoral Commission releases road map for Dokolo Woman MP
The Electoral Commission (EC) has released a road map for the By-election of Dokolo District Woman Member of Parliament and Councillors in Electoral Areas in Dokolo District where vacancies exist.
The seat of Dokolo District Woman MP fell vacant on January 18th, 2024 when the then Dokolo Woman MP, Hon Cecilia Ogwal died in Indian Hospital at the age of 77. Today, the Electoral Commission released the programme that will be followed in this by election where the electorates will follow to vote.
According to the released programme, the Nomination of Candidates will be done on March 11th-12th, 2024 at the Office of the Returning Officer Dokolo District, campaign period will start on March 13th-19th, 2024 and the polling day for Dokolo District Legislator will be on March 21st, 2024.
The Electoral Commission Chairperson, Justice Simon Byabakama has said that the successful filling of the vacancies in Dokolo By elections will depend on stakeholders' partnership, unbiased mobilisation and sensitisation of the electorate to observe law and order and to activelyparticipate in the entire electoral process among other things.
