Former Bushenyi-Ishaka Municipality MP aspirant, Kenneth Mugooha Akanduhura has been remanded Nyamushekyera Prison in Bushenyi District on cases related to defilement and aiding an abortion of a 15 year old girl.
Akanduhura, 35, a resident of Rwenjeru ward, Nyakabirizi division in Bushenyi-Ishaka Municipality is accused of defiling and procuring an abortion of a 15 year old girl who worked as a house maid in his (Akanduhura) home.
Akanduhura was arrested in Bushenyi on 18th April,2024 by Police after the victim's relatives filed complaints that the suspect has neglected the girl by failing to take care of her even after aiding her abortion after defiling her. The suspect appeared before Bushenyi Grade One Court Magistrate Halima Omar Ahmed who remanded him to Nyamushekyera Prison yesterday May 13th.
Court heard that before Akanduhura was arrested, the victim had started having complications resulting from the abortion and the suspect did not support her in managing her conditions. Magistrate Halima Omar noted that this court does not have authority to hear this case hence remanding him Akanduhura to Nyamushekyera Prison until prison until 19th June, when he will appear in court for further mentioning of his case.
