One dies, another injured in Kabale Accident
One person has died, another injured following an accident on Kabale-Mbarara road in Mukatoma cell, Kaharo Sub-County in Kabale District.
The deceased has been identified as Akampurira Abias,27, a Boda Boda rider from Kahondo Cell in Maziba Sub-County, Kabale district and the injured oone is Akantambira Ambrose, 45, a businessman hailing from Nyamirima Cell, Maziba Sub-County, Kabale district.
The tragic incident that occurred yesterday on April 24th in the evening, involved a white Toyota Premio Registration number UAZ 807L, that was being driven by Wiclif Mwesigwa, a lawyer and a resident of Butagasi Cell in Rukungiri Municipality who fled from the scene after the accident, and a Bajaj Boxer motorcycle registered as UFL 441S, that was ridden by the deceased (Akampurira).
The driver of the motor vehicle was traveling from Kabale towards Rukiga when he attempted to overtake an unknown trailer near Mukatoma village and in the process, he collided with the motorcycle ridden by Akampurira, who was transporting a passenger from Rukiga towards Kabale.
Elly Maate, the Police spokesperson for Kigezi Region says ASP Mucunguzi Wilson, the OC Traffic Kabale, and his team responded to the incident and transported the body of the deceased to mortuary at Kabale referral hospital for postmortem examination, while both the motor vehicle and motorcycle were towed to Kabale Police Station for further investigation.
