Former Kabale Municipality Mayor to be laid to rest in Rukiga
Kabale Municipality Council yesterday
convened a special sitting to mourn the passing of the former Municipality
Mayor, Dr. Pius Ruhemurana, who dedicated 20 years of service to the community.
Chaired by Municipality Speaker
Deogratias Byamukama, the council sitting was at Kabale Municipality
Headquarters and councilors including Twahirwa Anteli, (representing elder
persons), and Joelia Kakooza, former deputy mayor during Ruhemurana’s tenure,
applauded the late for advocating for development of Kabale municipality.
Speaker Byamukama, reflecting on Dr.
Ruhemurana’s legacy he said he was a passionate political leader, serving as an
exemplary figurehead for the municipality and the Kabale Diocese. Emmanuel
Sentaro Byamugisha the kabale municipal mayor who succeeded the late Dr.
Ruhemurana described him as a committed leader to justice and transparency.
Kabale Municipality Member of
Parliament, Hon. Dr. Nicholas Kamara, lauded him for his profound connection
with the community, emphasizing his genuine care for the people he served and
his deep commitment to his family. Dr. Pius Ruhemurana died of stroke on
Wednesday April 24th at Rugarama Hospital and he will be laid to rest today at his
home village in Kashumuruzi in Kashambya Sub-County, Rukiga district.
