Kiruhura LC1 Chairpersons request government to consider increasing their salaries
Chairperson Local council ones in Kiruhura district are requesting the government to increase their monthly salaries to improve their standards of living.
These Local leaders say Shs. 10,000 they earn a month is not enough hence request the government to at least increase their salaries from Shs.10,000 to Shs. 50,000 per month.
Recently. the Minister for Local government Raphael Magezi said the government is proposing to increase Local Council ones' monthly salaries from Shs.10,000 to Shs. 50,000 to avoid cases of corruption that indicate that some leaders are corrupt, take bribes for stamps since they earn little.
Speaking to KC News on this matter, Abaho David, the LCI Chairperson for Nshwerempango Ward in Rushere Town Council requested the government to continue with it's proposal and fulfill it in creasing their salaries to Shs. 50,000.
James Kabukye, the LCI Chairman Nyakasharara Ward in Kiruhura Town Council, asked the government to consider increasing their salaries to at least Shs. 200,000 per month which he says will enable them to do their duties well and satisfied minus thinking of bribing for stamps.
