Makerere University students from Rakai district have today stormed Parliament to protest and express their dissatisfaction over the alleged abusive remarks made by Mityana Municipality legislator, Hon Francis Zaake against their District MP, Hon Juliet Kinyamatama.
During his recent visit in Rakai district, Hon Zaake allegedly used abusive words against Hon Kinyamatama and while in parliament last week, a complaint was raised by Rakai District Woman Member of Parliament, Juliet Kinyamatama who said Hon Zaake uttered words against her. She said the words which Hon Zaake used against her were so despicable and couldn't utter them through her mouth therefore, demanded to have the video clip played before Parliament.
Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa suspended parliament, ordered for the transmission of the video to Makerere University for translation into the English language because the words uttered in the video were spoken in Luganda. While in Parliament today, Hon Zaake was forced to sit down after his attempts to speak on the floor of Parliament were thwarted by female MPs who kept echoing as he stood up to submit during the plenary sitting. However, deputy Speaker, Tayebwa warned MPs from disrupting the proceedings in Parliament, saying he would take drastic actions against MPs who will disrupt the proceedings and Zaake was later allowed to make his submission.
