Mbarara Vendors blame authorities over power blackouts
Vendors of Mbarara Central Market in Mbarara City are up in arms with the city authorities over the persistent power blackout which has hindered their working conditions for long. The vendors say they have operated without power for the last two days the challenge that has affected their businesses.
Emmanuel Muhumuza , the chairman Mbarara central market vendors Association says although they engaged the Mbarara city clerk for action against the disconnections of power in the market, nothing positive has yielded blaming their troubles on the city authorities for failing to cater for electricity. He says the power blackout has greatly frustrated their operations yet the city authorities have kept a deaf ear despite several appeals made by vendors to put things right.
Amina Naluyima Katende, the Mbarara city senior communication officer, appealed to vendors to be calm with the situation as city authorities are working tirelessly to reinstate power. By press time, electricity had been restored in the market.
