Mitooma officials arrested over government funds
Authorities in Mitooma district have arrested 2 Parish Chiefs and 1 SACCO chairperson from Mutara Sub County on allegations of extorting money from people before giving them Parish Development Funds (PDM).
The suspects are Robert Muhwezi (Ryakitanga Parish Chief), Aggrey Nyehagane (Enshaka Parish Chief) and Stuart Kabeho, the Chairperson Ryakitanga PDM SACCO. They were arrested on orders of the district security committee after receiving complaints from people that they have been getting money from them.
According to Mitooma District LCV Chairman, Benon Karyaija, the suspects had already collected over 1.5 M from people who would pay money before receiving the PDM funds.
