Koboko Police investigate stolen of newly born twin
Police in Koboko District are investigating the theft of newly born female twin, from Koboko General Hospital and the incident happened on March 29th, at around 8pm.
Police Preliminary investigations indicate that on March 21st, Afekum Baifa, gave birth by ceaserian to twins, a boy and a girl, and she was being helped by Chandiru Beatrice, a 47 year old peasant of Drimu cell, Godia Ward in Koboko Municipality. While she was asleep, her helper was called by Drateru Jelly, a midwife, to escort her to the placenta pit and pour urine.
On return, they found when the female twin was missing and a search was conducted in Hospital all in vain and the neighbourhood, till on April 3rd, when the father of the twiins Asiku Richard, 43, a resident of Atongoro cell, Maracha Town Council and his wife Afekum Baifa, 32, reported the matter of their missing child to police.
Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga says a total of 11 suspects, who form part of the Hospital staff were summoned statements recorded from them and they include Lamiru Lois, 50, the midwife in charge Maternity, Muzaki Caroline, 28 a midwife, Ada James, 53 a security guard, Dricilu Esther, 33 Deputy in-charge security, Drate Simon Adronga,52, Medical Doctor, Leila Zamzam, 30, businesswoman, Drateru Herry, 47 a midwife, Ayoka Hamid, 44 a security guard, Abiriga Augusto Alionzi,42, Hospital Admin, Mungunira Jimmy, 47 Medical Doctor and Chandiru Beatrice, a 47 house wife and helper.
Enanga says efforts are in place to trace and recover the stolen baby. He reminds Hospital Managers, to strengthen measures at Maternity Wards, protect new mothers and their children.
