Rwandan national sentenced in Uganda
The Grade One Magistrates court in Kisoro District, presided over by His Worship Dismas Muchelule sentenced a Rwandan national Patrick Munyamana to 3 months for illegal entry into Uganda.
Munyamana, who is in his 20s was residing in Nyagashenyi village, Kisoro District, before he was apprehended on August 15, 2023 for lacking a valid National ID, passport, or entry permit, which is violates Ugandan laws.
State prosecutor Best Kemigisha Niwagaba
urged the court to impose a severe penalty as a deterrent. Despite Munyamana's plea
for leniency, His Worship Dismas handed down a sentence, considering the
swift court proceedings.
Munyamana will now serve 3 months in jail for
illegal entry and will be transferred to Rwanda by Rwandan authorities upon
completing the sentence.
