Luwero Court remands ''Jesus'' over Census matters
A self-proclaimed “Jesus” in Luwero district has been remanded to Buntuntumula Prison on charges of obstructing enumerators from counting him and his follower in the ongoing National Population and Housing Census 2024.
Navas Vella, who calls himself ''Jesus'' who is the head of King of Star Glopper Eden church and his follower El Shadai Gresher in Wobulenzi town were arrested on Monday May 13th, 2024 after refusing to be counted by Census enumerators. Today, they appeared before Luwero Grade one Magistrate Christopher Adyeeri Tindyeebwa who charged them with obstructing the execution of lawful duty contrary to the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) Act, Sec. 28(3).
While in court, Navas Vella said he refused to be counted because he is the son of God who did not come from this earthly world. Navas and his follower pleaded guilty to the offense. Court was informed by the Luwero State Attorney Sarah Nakibe that investigations are still ongoing, asking Court to adjourn the case.
Magistrate Tindyeebwa remanded both accused people to Butuntumula Prison until May 29th, 2024 when they return to court for case hearing.
